Paws & Hooves

My name is Harriet and I am dedicated to providing the best care for your animals, with years of experience with horses, dogs, cats and small animals, NVQ qualifications in horse care, animal care, Diploma in Pet psychology, Pet sitting and Dog walking.

Growing up I have always been around animals and have been all my life, I grew up on a farm where we had horses, Dogs, cats, Rabbits and chickens. I absolutely love every animal and they are my life

My mum had a dog boarding business at our farm and we also bred pedigree golden retrievers and King Charles cavaliers so I have very much been involved with our dogs and helping with the dogs we boarded which I loved and gave me lots of experience with all different breeds

We lost our last of our golden line Elsie from old age in 2023 and then our cavalier BB last year who are both greatly missed and have left a hole in our family.

I had my first pony of my own at 5 years old, I started off doing a lot of showing with my Welsh section B pony maytime, when I grew out of her I then had a lovely fell pony called blackjack who I started going to Poole and District pony club. I then had a TB x called Abby who I competed in Show jumping and represented Poole and District pony club.

I have had many cats over the years growing up we had 2 Burmese cats Suki and Tiffany who started my love for cats , since then have always had cats and currently have Lola my 15 yr old British shorthair, 4 yr old Poppy who is my Bengal x who I rescued and 3 yr old Honey who is a moggy with a lot of personality

My working life has also been very much animal based, I started out with my first job working for a showjumping yard who also bred and owned the famous Cevin Z who went on to be one of William Funnels top stallions, I Did my my apprenticeship with Haddon Training based at Ramell Training livery and Dressage yard where I gained my NVQ, I also worked a season as a working pupil with William Fox-Pitt which was an incredible experience and taught me so much. Also as well as freelancing at other yards.

I have also volunteered working with rescue greyhounds and currently help out with walks when needed for a local rescue Poppy’s Pals.

I have now been running Paws and Hooves for over a year, something I had wanted to do for a long time and I’m still absolutely loving every minute
